Fox News Averaged 2.122 Million Prime Viewers on Oct. 29
Fox News led Oct. 29 with 2.122 million prime viewers, but MS NOW's Ali Velshi took the day's top Adults 25-54 number at 11 p.m., per Nielsen Big Data + Panel.
Wire notes
- Fox News drew 2.122 million total prime-time viewers on Thursday, Oct. 29 (Nielsen Big Data + Panel).
- MS NOW's The 11th Hour with Ali Velshi was the most-watched program of the day in Adults 25-54.
- Prime demo: Fox News 214K vs. MS NOW 160K vs. CNN 119K (viewers 25-54, in thousands).
- Total day: Fox News 1.288 million viewers vs. MS NOW 722K and CNN 449K.
Fox News drew 2.122 million total viewers in primetime on Thursday, Oct. 29, nearly double MS NOW's 1.256 million and more than triple CNN's 687,000, according to Nielsen Media Research's Big Data + Panel ratings.
The gap repeated across the full broadcast day. Fox News averaged 1.288 million total viewers, MS NOW 722,000 and CNN 449,000.
How did the Adults 25-54 demo break?
The advertising-coveted 25-54 demographic told the same story in aggregate. Fox News led with 214,000 prime-time demo viewers, ahead of MS NOW at 160,000 and CNN at 119,000. In total-day demo viewing, Fox News averaged 131,000, MS NOW 87,000 and CNN 66,000.
In short: Fox News won every broad daypart in both total viewers and the demo.
Where did MS NOW actually win?
The exception came late at night. MS NOW continued to win the 11 p.m. ET hour, and The 11th Hour with Ali Velshi ranked as the most-watched program of the day in the Adults 25-54 demo, per Nielsen's Big Data + Panel data. That makes Velshi's late-night hour the single strongest demo performer across the three networks measured — a notable outlier on a night Fox News otherwise controlled.
The pattern matters because late-night cable hours rarely out-rate prime time in the demo. Velshi's 11 p.m. win cuts against the primetime-heavy hierarchy the rest of the ratings board shows.
What the numbers look like side by side
Total viewers (Big Data + Panel, in thousands):
- Total Day: Fox News 1,288 | MS NOW 722 | CNN 449
- Prime: Fox News 2,122 | MS NOW 1,256 | CNN 687
Adults 25-54 (Big Data + Panel, in thousands):
- Total Day: Fox News 131 | MS NOW 87 | CNN 66
- Prime: Fox News 214 | MS NOW 160 | CNN 119
All times are Eastern, and all figures come from Nielsen Media Research's Big Data + Panel methodology for Thursday, Oct. 29, 2026.
Why one night matters
For media buyers, single-night cable numbers are directional rather than decisive — but Oct. 29 reinforced two ongoing storylines at once. Fox News retains a wide multi-daypart lead in both currencies of the business, total audience and demo. And MS NOW holds a genuine, repeatable beachhead at 11 p.m., where Velshi's demo delivery beats everything else on the board that night, including Fox's prime lineup.
The open question for advertisers tracking the shift toward Nielsen's Big Data + Panel measurement is whether Velshi's late-hour demo strength holds as the sample and methodology settle — one night proves a pattern only when it keeps repeating.
