BBDO NY Loses CEO Emma Armstrong and CCO Michael Aimette
BBDO NY CEO Emma Armstrong, CCO Michael Aimette and chief client officer Kelli MacDonald are departing, 10 months after Omnicom's $13B IPG acquisition.
Wire notes
- BBDO NY CEO Emma Armstrong and chief creative officer Michael Aimette are leaving the agency, it confirmed to ADWEEK.
- Chief client officer Kelli MacDonald, another FCB alum who joined via the acquisition, is also departing for a new opportunity.
- The exits come 10 months after Omnicom closed its $13 billion acquisition of IPG, creating the largest agency holding company on the market.

Emma Armstrong and Michael Aimette are leaving BBDO NY, the agency confirmed to ADWEEK. Armstrong held the CEO post at the flagship office; Aimette served as chief creative officer.
Chief client officer Kelli MacDonald is also departing, the agency said. She is leaving for a new opportunity. MacDonald is another FCB alum who arrived at BBDO through the same corporate chain of events.
The three executives joined BBDO after Omnicom's acquisition of IPG, a deal that led BBDO to absorb its creative rival FCB. Before the merger, Armstrong was global chief transformation officer at FCB. Aimette was the chief creative officer at FCB NY.
The timing frames the story. The exits come just 10 months after Omnicom closed its $13 billion acquisition of IPG, a transaction that created the largest agency holding company on the market.
That deal reshaped two of the industry's best-known creative networks. Omnicom folded IPG into its structure, and BBDO took on FCB's operations and leadership as part of the integration. Armstrong, Aimette and MacDonald all moved across as part of that process.
For BBDO NY, the departures remove the leadership tier that arrived with the merger. Armstrong carried the transformation brief from her FCB role into the CEO seat at BBDO's flagship office. Aimette brought the creative leadership he had built as CCO of FCB NY. MacDonald, as chief client officer, held responsibility for the office's client relationships.
The agency shared the news with ADWEEK but did not name successors in its statement.
The scale of the transaction looms over the exits. A $13 billion acquisition that closed 10 months ago produced the largest agency holding company in the market, and the integration that followed — including BBDO's absorption of FCB — is now losing three of the senior leaders who came across in that process, all within their first year at the merged flagship office.
The departures mark the most visible leadership break yet in the post-merger BBDO NY structure, and the question of who fills the CEO, chief creative officer and chief client officer roles will signal how Omnicom plans to run its flagship creative office through the next phase of the integration.
