Tractor Supply Company has hired Fahim Siddiqui, former chief information officer of The Home Depot, as executive vice president and chief technology and digital officer, the rural retailer announced Wednesday. Siddiqui starts Monday and will report directly to President and CEO Hal Lawton.
The appointment puts a 30-year technology veteran in charge of the company's enterprise technology and digital organization. His remit covers digital infrastructure, business applications, digital commerce and cybersecurity, according to the release. He will also lead efforts to improve the retailer's customer experience, work the company ties to its long-term growth ambitions.
Siddiqui arrives as Tractor Supply reworks its digital strategy — though the announcement says little about what that rework entails, beyond the growth ambitions phrasing.
Where does Siddiqui come from?
Siddiqui served as executive vice president and chief information officer at The Home Depot between April 2022 and May 2025. The home improvement retailer had hired him as senior vice president of information technology in December 2018 and later promoted him to the CIO post, the company said.
At Home Depot he managed enterprise technology, cybersecurity and other digital functions. Earlier in his career he held senior roles at Staples, Vidyo and Intralinks, per the press release.
The takeaway: Tractor Supply has recruited a proven big-box technology operator, not a newcomer.
What did the CEO say?
Lawton framed the hire as a service play. "Technology plays an important role in how we serve our customers and support our Team Members," Lawton said in a press release. "Fahim brings a strong combination of technical expertise, retail knowledge and business leadership that will serve Tractor Supply well. We're excited to welcome him to our leadership team and look forward to his contributions as we continue to deliver Legendary Service."
The statement praises breadth — technical, retail and business — but names no specific deliverables or timelines. What "Legendary Service" means in measurable digital terms remains undefined.
How does this fit Tractor Supply's AI push?
The hire aligns with the retailer's existing technology initiatives. At the Home Delivery World event earlier this year, Kyle Langley, vice president of final mile at Tractor Supply, said the company already uses AI to make last-mile deliveries (the final leg from warehouse to customer) more efficient. The retailer also plans to apply AI to estimate future delivery times.
That delivery-efficiency work now falls under a leader who ran comparable functions at a retailer several times Tractor Supply's scale — a fit that looks deliberate rather than accidental.
Siddiqui's immediate priority list is not public. Whether his mandate includes expanding the AI delivery program or rebuilding the digital commerce stack, the company did not specify. The first concrete signal will likely come in whatever changes emerge across digital commerce and cybersecurity in his opening months.
