Google switched on direct booking and quote-request links in AI Mode for U.S. home service businesses on Wednesday, routing demand through partners including Angi, Thumbtack, Housecall Pro and Jobber, with ServiceTitan listed as coming soon.

Google Search Product VP Robby Stein announced the rollout on X: "Today, we're making it even easier to research & book home services with direct links in AI Mode through partners like @angi_home @thumbtack @housecall & @GetJobber (and @ServiceTitan coming soon). It's available now in the U.S."

What does AI Mode actually do?

In Google's demo video, a searcher asks for a handyman to build a bed and dresser the next day. AI Mode identifies local handyman services with online availability plus other providers able to give a quote. Each listing shows a rating and a short description of the business. The first listing displays two available appointment times.

The launch follows Google's I/O conference in May, where the company said it would extend its agentic booking experience (AI acting on the user's behalf to complete a transaction) to more local services, add direct provider booking links, and let users ask Google to call businesses for them in areas such as home repair, beauty and pet care. Google said both features would roll out nationwide this summer.

How each platform qualifies businesses

Jobber said eligible U.S. customers can receive AI Mode requests now with no lead fees. Its Help Page sets clear conditions:

  • An active, paid Jobber subscription (trials cannot appear)
  • A full address listed in Jobber
  • A Google Business Profile connected to Jobber at the same location
  • A request or booking form assigned to Google, which Jobber connects by default

Once Google matches a profile, a "Book Online" button appears on the business's Google Business Profile linking to its Jobber booking form. Google usually finds a match within a few days. Bookings arrive like any other online booking, follow the business's set schedule, and assessment bookings auto-confirm unless the business turns on per-request approval. Jobber CEO Sam Pillar said the company should help professionals show up when customers search with AI "while keeping ownership of the customer relationships they've worked hard to build." The Help Page adds that collecting client reviews and using a booking form rather than only a request form can increase how often Google recommends a business.

Housecall Pro says all users can appear in AI Mode at no additional charge, with requests sent to the professional's account inbox. Co-Founder and Chief AI Officer Roland Ligtenberg framed it as "One request, one Pro, no lead fee, no bidding war." Its partner page auto-enrolls every professional, pulls time slots from their calendar, and requires no Google Business Profile — but the integration is still listed as coming soon for eligible U.S. customers.

Angi says homeowners who select an Angi pro go straight to that pro's Angi profile for more information and quote requests. Thumbtack appeared on Stein's list but had announced no AI Mode plan via press release as of Nov. 4.

Why the fee gap matters

Jobber's and Housecall Pro's zero-lead-fee terms contrast with Google's own Local Services Ads, whose help page treats a customer booking request as a paid lead in the U.S. and Canada. Angi's annual report says pros pay fees for consumer matches, yet its AI Mode announcement does not say whether those fees apply to quote requests originating in AI Mode.

Stein's post does not explain how Google selects which businesses to display, so partner enrollment alone guarantees nothing. Businesses on none of the listed platforms currently have no route to direct AI Mode bookings. Google's local availability help page does not yet mention partner links, so eligibility rules on each platform remain the operative checklist for now.
