The brief
- Axios reached its 2026 revenue goal ahead of schedule.
- Axios Direct launches this month as three content feeds for AI models and agents.
- CRO Jacquelyn Cameron announced the product at the Digiday Publishing Summit on Sept. 16 in Key Biscayne, Florida; the first target customers are investment firms with high assets under management.
Axios has already reached its revenue goal for 2026. Now the news publisher is building a new revenue stream to sustain that pace in 2027 and beyond.
This month, Axios will take to market Axios Direct, a new product that delivers the publisher's reporting as content feeds. The concept effectively takes the ideas behind a Bloomberg terminal and an RSS feed and updates them for the agentic AI era.
Axios Direct will eventually consist of three separate feeds, each aimed at a distinct type of customer, said Jacquelyn Cameron, chief revenue officer at Axios, speaking on stage at the Digiday Publishing Summit on Sept. 16 in Key Biscayne, Florida.
"We believe that there are three pathways where we could make net-new revenue impact to the bottom line," Cameron said. "The first pathway is to working with clients who will take an action off of that information. We think of them as investment companies with high assets under management."
The launch positions Axios to monetize its journalism through machine-readable feeds that AI models and agents can consume directly — a growing consideration for publishers as AI-driven traffic disrupts traditional referral models.
Details on the second and third feed pathways, pricing, and launch partners were not disclosed at the summit session.
