Two games—Madden NFL 27 and NBA The Run—are now free on Amazon Luna for active Amazon Prime members, with no extra cost, according to Amazon.

Amazon set out three terms for the promotion:

  • EA’s Madden NFL 27 launched in August and is now available on Luna at no extra cost.
  • NBA The Run carries the same no-extra-cost offer.
  • Both games fall within Luna’s Amazon Prime perks, which require an active Amazon Prime membership.

Amazon wrote: “Today, EA SPORTS™ Madden NFL 27 and NBA THE RUN join Amazon Luna, bringing the live action and excitement of the gridiron and the basketball court to players at home.”

A Prime promotion timed to the sports calendar

Amazon said the timing follows the NFL season reaching full swing and the NBA heating up. The company also said the two additions give fans more opportunities to turn favorite sports moments into interactive play.

For subscribers, the offer extends Prime membership rather than requiring a separate game purchase. Amazon places two sports titles in the free catalog supporting its wider Prime proposition. The announcement gives campaign planners a concrete example of a sports property refreshing an existing benefit without adding a purchase step for Prime members.

Amazon connects the game offer to MADDEN

Amazon promoted the November 18 Prime Video release of MADDEN alongside the Luna additions. The film stars Nicolas Cage. Amazon described MADDEN as inspired by the life of a beloved American icon.

Amazon said the film follows John Madden’s journey with his best friend and true original Al Davis. It moves “from a Super Bowl-winning partnership with the Raiders, to becoming football’s most recognizable voice, to building the worldwide Madden NFL video game.” The game offer and film launch share the Madden name and football audience.

Luna’s free catalog extends beyond the NFL and NBA

Amazon added Star Wars: Galactic Racer to Luna for free last month. That title joins Madden NFL 27 and NBA The Run as a recent Prime-linked game entitlement, broadening the no-extra-cost selection beyond sports.

The competitive comparison also exposes a difference in commercial models. Xbox Cloud Gaming’s added playtime costs start at around 40¢ per hour, and Xbox Cloud Gaming is working on an ad-supported tier for later this year. Luna, by contrast, places the two sports games inside a broader membership benefit.

What does this change for marketers?

For Prime members, the practical change is immediate: active subscribers can play Madden NFL 27 and NBA The Run on Luna without an additional game fee. For campaign planners, the more useful signal is the sequencing across Amazon’s services. Prime provides eligibility, Luna provides access to the games, and Prime Video supplies the November 18 film event.

That gives brand teams a concrete example of using one sports property across a film service and cloud gaming, with Star Wars: Galactic Racer providing another recent entertainment title. The announcement supplies no play, subscriber or conversion figures, so campaign teams should treat it as a distribution example rather than proof of consumer response.

The next dated step is November 18, when MADDEN reaches Prime Video with the two games already free through Luna.
